What is Foundayo?
Foundayo is a prescription tablet for weight management. Its active ingredient, orforglipron, works on the same appetite hormone as the well-known weekly injections, so it steadies hunger rather than burning fat.
The difference is chemistry. Most of these medicines are peptides, which the stomach breaks down, so they either have to be injected or taken under strict fasted conditions. Orforglipron is not a peptide, so it survives the stomach on its own.
In practice that means one tablet a day, at whatever time suits you, with or without food, with any drink you like. There is nothing else to remember.
Honest comparison
Where it sits against the injections
A tablet does not shift as much weight as the strongest pen. Here is the real gap, and who each option tends to suit.

How it works
How Foundayo works
Clinician-led treatment works with the body's own appetite signals rather than against them, which is why the weight tends to stay off while you are on it.
Quieter appetite
The pull towards food between meals eases, so choices get easier.
Fuller for longer
Your stomach empties more slowly, so smaller meals still satisfy.
Fewer cravings
The constant background thinking about food tends to settle.
Steadier blood sugar
Fewer energy dips through the day, so fewer hunger spikes.
Foundayo vs Wegovy tablets for weight loss
Two daily tablets, two very different routines. The medicine matters less than the routine you will keep.

Common side effects for Foundayo?
Side effects are common when you start any new medicine. Most are mild and ease off as your body settles, and going up more slowly helps more than anything else.
Like all medicines, orforglipron has side effects. In the ATTAIN trials the common ones were nausea, diarrhoea, constipation and being sick. They were usually mild, worst in the first week after a dose increase, and faded within a few days as the body settled.
The most common Foundayo side effects include
- Feeling sick
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Being sick
- Indigestion
- Reduced appetite
These are usually worst in the first week after a dose increase and settle within a few days. Going up more slowly helps more than anything else.
We will not prescribe it if
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive
- You have had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2
- You have had pancreatitis
- You are already taking another GLP-1 medicine

Questions
The things people actually ask
How much weight can you lose on Foundayo?
In the ATTAIN-1 trial, adults taking the highest dose for 72 weeks lost an average of 12.4% of their body weight, compared with around 0.9% on placebo, alongside diet and activity support. Counting everyone randomised, including those who stopped early, the average was 11.2%. Individual results vary widely and no outcome can be guaranteed.
Is Foundayo as effective as Mounjaro or Wegovy?
On average it produces less weight loss than the injections. Trial averages are around 12.4% for orforglipron over 72 weeks, 14.9% for weekly semaglutide over 68 weeks and 20.9% for weekly tirzepatide over 72 weeks. The trials were separate, so these figures sit side by side rather than head to head. Foundayo's advantage is practical rather than numerical: no needle and no timing rules.
How long does Foundayo take to work?
Appetite usually changes within the first one to two weeks, often before the scales move. Weight loss generally becomes clear from around the third month and continued steadily for over a year in the trials before levelling off. The pace depends on the strength reached, starting weight, diet and activity.
Do you regain weight after stopping Foundayo?
Most people regain some weight after stopping any GLP-1 medicine, because appetite returns as the medicine clears. Obesity is treated as a long-term condition, so weight tends to return unless eating patterns, activity and sleep have changed alongside treatment. Stopping is usually best staged with a prescriber, sometimes through a lower maintenance strength.
